The Mandem Show
Peter Ellis was born and raised in South London. He grew up in a single parent household with an older sister and younger brother. During the day, at school, he was a King of mischief and lucky not to be expelled.
After leaving school with a handful of O-levels he worked his way through a series of jobs going nowhere. Simultaneously his love of music drew him to all the great clubs of the time – Nightmoves, Oasis, La Prison, Granaries, Shenola’s, All Nations and Trends to name a few.
Eventually he realised that he needed to knuckle down and went to university. At his old workplace they had taken bets on how long it would take for him to quit and ask for his job back. It turned out to be one of the hardest things he ever did but it was even harder for him
to give up and quit. Well, he never needed to go and ask for his old job back. He got his degree. He also became a father for the first time.
He knew there was a calling on his life and after visiting a few churches with a friend he was introduced to Ruach City Church. He soon got baptised. After ten years in the peacekeeping team he spent a couple of years in the children’s ministry. Marriage and three kids later
he discovered that he had prostate cancer and had surgery. It was a chance meeting with the radio station produced that led him to radio.
With his no nonsense attitude, never afraid to address difficult issues or push the envelope – the ManDem show was born. The topics that have been tackled include relationships, wotless fathers, suicide, gun and knife crime, racism and sex to name but a few. He loves
investigating and getting that story that will enlighten, inform or help someone with their own struggles.
