Scripture: 2 Corinthians 10:4–5
19th-25th April 2020
Again, it was from Prison that the Apostle wrote.
2 Corinthians 10:4–5 (KJV)
4. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; 5. Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.
In this text Paul refers to our Imaginations which with further research on how our imaginations works it enables us to understand that our Imaginations makes up the root of everything that becomes our reality.
We are told not only to cast down our imaginations, but every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God.
It is a high thing – if it is against, meaning the high thing is in opposition to, or in contrast, to the knowledge of God, e.g. what you know and believe through faith by the Word of God.
Scripture informs us that the Word of God is likened unto:
- Hammer – It Convicts
- Fire – It Refines
- Mirror – It Reflects
- Laver – It Cleanses
- Lamp – It Guides
- Seed – It Multiplies
- Sword – It Cuts and Divides
We need to stay in the Word to benefit from everything that the Word has the power to do.
We need it to convict us so that we will repent, we need it to refine us so that we can come out of this as pure gold. We need it to search us and reflect what is in us, so that we can take the plank out of our own eyes before trying to help another take the speck out of theirs, as well as also see the gifts, talents and treasures that has been deposited in us by the Grace of the Father. We need
to cleanse our ways by the washing of the water of the Word. We need it to be a Lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path as well as to guide us on our way. We need it to enable us to bear fruit in our season, being fruitful and multiplying for the Kingdom. Finally, we need it to cut and divide so that we are balanced and thoroughly furnished as a mature Believer in Christ Jesus.

Prayer is not just talking to God. It is communion. It is listening. As a matter of fact, we probably spend more time asking God, than listening. But know that when God speaks to us in our innermost beings, His voice is consistent with scripture (Philippians 2:13). God never contradicts through impressions what He has written in His Word.
